Your Calling

March 12, 2012

Everybody has a calling. What many don’t realize is that the majority of God’s will for you can be discovered in the Bible.

1. Your Calling Is to SERVE.

Serving others means you see a need and you take care of it. Whatever you do, have an attitude of service.

“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” (Ephesians 4:1)

2. Your Calling Is to LOVE.

God calls you to love everyone. Whatever you do, love others.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2)

“By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35)

3. Your Calling Is to Bring PEACE.

You should bring peace wherever you go. Fighting with others will diminish your calling. Make sure your presence brings peace.

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:3)

4. Your Calling Is to Move Toward WHOLENESS.

God wants you to have ONE life. Satan wants you to have multiple lives: act one way at church; act another way at your job. Notice how many times the Lord uses “one” in this verse:

“There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—one Lord, one faith, one baptism.” (Ephesians 4:4-5)

5. Your Calling Is to MINISTRY.

God wanted to come be with us to be in us and flow through us.

“One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” (Ephesians 4:6)

Does everything you do incorporate these callings from God?

Thank you for this beautiful reminder. It’s really simple, isn’t it?

    Such a challenging post, Christi.
    One worth reading and re-reading.
I especially liked the challenge to move toward wholeness — to live one life, not multiple lives.
Such a fresh perspective on the Christ-centered life.

I’ve been praying for Him to show me my calling for a while now. I know that He’ll show me where I can best serve Him, but it’s frustrating sometimes. Your points are a reminder that our calling is service to Him wherever we are and whatever we are doing. Thanks for that…

    God bless. 😀

Thank you for sharing … I know it can be frustrating. I was just having this same conversation the other day with a friend struggling with the same thing and feeling like God is silent. But whatever we are doing–even in the mundane daily tasks of life–we can glorify and serve God. Keep believing His promises–He will reveal His will to you. I will be praying for you!
