Drought Conditions

July 23, 2012

This summer’s extreme temperatures with no rain have caused the worst drought since 1956 for 55% of the United States. The heat has not only burnt up lawns and grass everywhere, but crops also are being damaged, which will destroy this year’s food supply and drive food prices higher. The drought most likely will have regional, national, and even international impacts.

The picture above is of my mom’s neighbor’s lawn in Ohio. Because of the extreme drought conditions, you can see how my mom’s yard is completely brown and burnt while her neighbor’s is luscious and green.

How do you get a luscious, green, and beautiful lawn in the middle of the worst drought in the last 50 years?

This man has a built-in sprinkling system. While everybody else is burning up, suffering from heat and humidity that has no end in sight, he is well hydrated with plenty of water.

Most his neighbors look upon him and his lawn with scorn. Jealousy. Desire.

This man has what everybody else wants—water. And he’s not sharing.

In spiritual terms, do you have what everybody else wants and needs?

Living Water.

Jesus is living water: “But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

It’s a time of spiritual drought in our nation and in our world. You have the answer, the source of life, the bread of life, the living water. You have what everybody needs to be fulfilled and to have eternal life.

In a time of drought, where everybody is suffering and struggling, are you sharing your living water? Do others notice that your spiritual life is green and growing daily? Do they look at you and wonder how you’re different and what’s the reason your life is happy and blessed?

Are you sharing Jesus with others or are you keeping Him to yourself?

Our nation is not only experiencing a drought in physical terms; the people around you, those in your neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, churches, are struggling. Most people want to find what brings peace, happiness, contentment, love, joy.

Tell others about the One who has changed your life. The One who fills your well that can never run dry. The One who brings about true and eternal peace, happiness, contentment, love, and joy.

Don’t let others around you suffer and die looking for water.

Tell them about the Living Water. Tell them about Jesus.

“But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life”
(John 4:14).
